Hit that button just right. You know the one. It may not be your dream car and it may not be on the top of your list, but every time you see one, or someone brings it up, you know you just have to own one. For me is the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Specifically the early convertible. Our own !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! posted about his !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and I got that urge to own one. Drive it up the coast with my country gentleman’s hat, only the finest tweed jacket, aviator, and brown leather gloves. I just want one so badly. I wouldn’t mind an Eagle Speedster, but I’d rather have an original with all its quirks and issues. My perfect Jag E-Type would be in Opalescent Dark Green with a black interior (though I do like this tan interior).

TFRITCH posted about his model on LADA
That’s not what you meant to write. I got unnecessarily excited. At the same time your autocorrect is AWESOME.

Lol, thanks for pointing that out (fixed now). Seriously could not make a better mistake talking about him.

I captured two E-types in the rain at the British car show: http://oppositelock.kinja.com/big-british-dump-1787059969

I would have posted the hell out of a Lada if I had one.

Yep, that model had a similar effect when I was a kid. The E-type is still up there for me, though it was a bit of a “don’t meet your heroes” moment the first time I worked on one. Great to drive though, and that engine is one of the all time greats.

I feel that way with a lot of cars though. Working on older cars can be more difficult than newer ones, at least from a diagnostic point.

I remember that dump. I love car shows where people don’t run away when it rains like they do here, but they improperly didn’t use the tonneau cover.

Old cars are easy! Air, fuel and spark, no computers to interfere with vague and phantom faults. The E-type’s body structure makes it a pain in the ass to access some things.

Hmmm.... I guess. I need more old cars then. Know anyone who wants a 928 for something older?

And a throttle linkage that has 76 pieces.
I’ve restored a few E-types. Unfortunately all were received in boxes. And never whole + nice to begin with. There are soooooo many parts in one of these. (And I never seemed to get all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle).
I came to the conclusion that if you count all the bolts and parts in a MGA-double it-that’s how many parts are in an Austin Healey 3000. Double THAT and that’s how many are in an E-type.
Don’t get me wrong-there is no better looking car on the planet PERIOD! And driving one is an absolute joy to all your senses. But for me, the path to getting to take that ride was a long one.

i’m working on finding a way to dig up enough parts for one..........

I don’t envy you for that. I’ve been deep in to a lot of cars, and for old stuff, the E-type was one of the hardest on my body. Lots of contortions to do simple things, and there’s always something in the way or out of reach. You’re right though, they’re lovely when they’re right.

Citroen DS Pallas. And I would 100% have it in purple. Or mint green.

The desire to post things is tempered by not having driven it for six months. I’m struggling to find motivation to even put it back together at this point.

You should definitely do it! I like both those colors.

Unfortunately, a DS isn’t in the cards for a while. I don’t have the money for a nice one or the wrenching skills to fix up a clunker. But I have dreams! ;-)

I have the same issue with my projects, no time or money equals declining motivation.

Buy a clunker, learn to wrench with it.
